Who is Supreme Yaskin in Mahabharata? Is He Kali?

Posted on

When entering the world of the Ancient Indian epic of Mahabharata the reader could meet a lot of interesting personalities and rather complex plots. Nevertheless, it should be noted that “Supreme Yaskin” does not fit into the various renditions of the Mahabharata. This name does not appear in the VPS, which could suggest that it is a more recent or a fictional name created, probably, during the reinterpretations of adaptations of the epic.

Understanding the Mahabharata

The Mahabharata lies in the two fundamental epic works of the classical Vedic/Sanskritic tradition of ancient India, the other being Ramayana. It paints the story of the battle for kingship between two sets of paternal first cousins; the Kauravas who are portrayed as the princes and the Pandavas.

However, the Mahabharata has a large number of subsidiary plots, maxims, and profound and philosophical deliberations to impart what is right and wrong conduct and the consequences of one’s deeds – the great Hindu epic is a veritable encyclopedia of dharma and karma.

Major Characters of Mahabharata

The major characters of Mahabharata are as follows:

Krishna: An avatar of Vishnu, who is one of the major characters of the story, the charioteer.
Arjuna: The archery expert and the third among the five Pandavas and the main figure in the Bhagavad Gita.
Bhishma: Well known for his solemn vow of celibacy and uncompromising loyalty. He is referred to as the grand patriarch of the Kuru dynasty.
Duryodhana: The firstborn among the Kauravas who is portrayed as ambitious and jealous leads to the emergence of the war.
Draupadi: The queen who has been shared by the Pandavas and whose insult provoked the declaration of the great war.

Mythological Context and Present-Day Adaptations

Mahabharata has countless interpretations, sequels, and even versions. Of course, these variations can create new characters or change the established ones to stress various themes or moral issues of concern to a modern viewer.

Speculation on Supreme Yaskin

Given that “Supreme Yaskin” is not part of the traditional Mahabharata, here are a few possibilities for this character’s origins in modern adaptations:
Fictional Addition: Supreme Yaskin may not be a real character as it appears to be only a character that may have been developed for a contemporary rendition of the Mahabharata story possibly to portray a certain message or lesson.
Symbolic Representation: This character might represent something more general, and have values of anti-hero, supreme maliciousness, supreme wisdom, or a turning point in the plot depending on the modern interpretation.
Alternate Interpretations: Characters can change to bring in a fresh view of the events or to face aspects that remained unnoticed in the former telling.

Conclusion

On an indispensable note, the fictional Supreme Yaskin character does not have a place in the conventional Mahabharata. It is probably not of the actual epic itself, but of a contemporary, presumably either translated or transcreated version of the work. Appreciating such additions involves being aware of the process of evolution of mythological storytelling which entails continuous reinterpretation of the ancient myths in line with the modern-day ethical standards as well as the audiences.

For those who want to venture deeper into the layers of the possible range of interpretations of the Mahabharata, one has to turn to both the traditional text and its numerous versions, as each of them can be as valuable as the others in terms of understanding the world of ancient India and its legendary figures.
